Printing on Clay: Create a Modern Wall Vase: Dec 14

Sparrow Collective

In this hands-on workshop, students will use soft slabs of terra cotta clay to create a modern wall-mounted vase. We will begin with cutting out clay shapes and then students will draw/paint and then print their designs onto clay using a monotype printing process. Basic soft-slab techniques will be taught as students construct their vases. Tips, tricks and ideas for design decisions will be discussed. All materials needed to create a planter will be included. Students are encouraged to come with any images, sketches, or pattern inspiration that they might like to use on their planters. No art experience is necessary, all are welcome! What is a monotype? A monotype is a print that is created by drawing or painting on a surface and transferring it to paper (or in our case, clay). It results in a completely unique print each time! The planters will be fired and glazed for you and finished planters can be picked up 2 weeks after the class. This class will be taught by Geryn Roche of GerWare Ceramics.
