Quilting Levels I & II: Giant Star/Lone Star Wall Hanging

<div>Join Chrissy Anderson in this 8 week Quilting Course and make a beautiful Lone Star or Giant Star Wall Hanging. No previous quilting experience is necessary, however, strong sewing skills are a must.</div><div><br></div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 51)">Quilters bring their own fabric.&nbsp; Please see materials list below as well as tools/supplies required. <br></span></div><div><br></div><div>Please read the level descriptions so that you choose the quilt pattern best suited for your skill level.</div><div><br></div><div>This session begins on June 24th and meets for 8 non-consecutive Mondays.</div><div><br></div><div>June 24th, July 1st, 8th, 22nd, 29th, August 5th, 12th and 19th</div><div>&nbsp;<b>no class on July 15th</b></div><div> <br></div><div>Level One classes run 6-8:30pm</div><div>Level Two classes run 6:30-8:30pm</div><br>If at the close of the 8 weeks, you haven’t completed your quilt, please register for Open Studio to finish it up.<br><div><br></div><div><b>Level Descriptions:</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div><u style="background-color: rgb(51, 204, 255)"><font color="#000000">Level One Quilter</font></u></div><div>&nbsp;You are new to quilting or are working on mastering these skills:</div>fabric arrangement, cutting, seam allowance, lining up seams, use of machine (including trouble shooting). We will cover fabric prep, tools, cutting fabric, piecing, squaring up the blocks, the quilt sandwich, attaching the binding, as well as closing it with the blind stitch.<br><div><br></div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0)">The Level One Quilting class begins at <b>6pm</b> to allow for instruction on each step.<br></span></div><br><div><u style="background-color: rgb(204, 102, 153)"><font color="#000000">Level Two Quilter</font></u></div><div> You have mastered these skills: fabric arrangement, cutting, seam allowance, lining up seams, use of machine (including troubleshooting). You are looking to grow your quilting knowledge by working on more intricate quilt patterns.</div><div><br></div><div>The Level Two Quilting class begins at 6:30pm</div><div><br></div><div><b>There are 4 options for this quilting series:</b><br>Level One - Giant Star (recommended)<br>Level One - Lone Star<br>Level Two - Giant Star<br><div>Level Two - Lone Star</div></div><div><br></div><div><b>The Projects:</b><br></div><div><u><span style="background-color: rgb(0, 204, 255)"><font color="#000000">The Giant Star Quilt</font></span></u> is made up of half square triangles and is perfect for a Level One Quilter. (It would be a breeze for Level Two Quilters.) <br></div><div><br></div><div><u style="background-color: rgb(51, 204, 255)"><font color="#000000">Materials:</font></u></div><div>1 yd color 1</div><div>1 yd color 2&nbsp;</div><div>1 &amp;1/4 yard the background fabric.&nbsp;</div><div>1/2 yard for the binding (or use leftovers for scrappy look.)</div><div><br></div><div>You’ll need 4 yards for the quilt backing, however, you can wait to measure the quilt top before purchasing the backing.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>The finished size is approximately 50” x 50”. You can add borders to make it larger.</div><div><br></div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(204, 102, 153)"><u><font color="#000000">The Lone Star Quilt</font></u> </span>is made up of strip sets that are sewn in specific orders.&nbsp; This quilt involves cutting on angles and matching many points by pinning. It is best suited for Level Two Quilters. (It would be challenging for Level One Quilters.)&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><u style="background-color: rgb(204, 102, 153)"><font color="#000000">Materials:</font></u></div><div>one jelly roll - must have 3 strips of each color/print you want featured (you’ll have leftovers)</div><div>1/2 yard for the background</div><div>1/3 for the border</div><div>1/3 for the binding</div><div>1 yard for the backing (you can wait to measure the quilt top before purchasing the backing)</div><div><br></div>The finished size is approximately 32” x 32”.&nbsp; You can add borders to make it larger.<br><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 51)"><br></span><b><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 0)">Tools, Materials, Supplies:</span></b><br>You may bring your own machine or use one of ours. Although some tools and supplies may be available to use in a pinch, attendees should purchase and bring the following to each class.<br><div><br></div><div><span style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255)"><u>Tools Needed:</u></span></div>• Rotary cutter - 45mm<br>• Acrylic Grid Ruler - 4” or 5” X 24”<br>• Self-Healing Cutting Mat - 18” X 24”<br>• A shorter 6” X 12” ruler is nice to have.<br>• 12” square is needed for the Giant Star Pattern (12.5” is fine)<br>*sizes are important to be able to cut the fabric yardage.<br>You can find these in a set for around $30 on Amazon or wait for a 40% off coupon at Jo-Ann Fabrics or Michael’s<br><br><br><div><br></div>Please sign up for Open Studio if you’d like to have some company while you work on a project of your own.<div><div><br><br></div></div>
